It was snowing when I woke up.
Breakfast was half a cherry pie Larabar (I dropped the other half on the floor - and then threw it out - I didn't eat it, gross!)
To make up for that, I got coffee and a cinnamon raisin bagel with tofu cream cheese when I got into the city. I feel like I've been eating too much bready stuff recently and I want to stop but I knew the craving would really nag at me if I didn't get it this morning. Maybe it's the weather. Okay, it's probably PMS.
Lunch was raw broccoli, curried sunflower seed spread, and some baby carrots. Simple but pretty perfect.
Then:
Um, yeah, PMS.
(Full disclosure I also got Twizzlers out of the vending machine at work. Someone stop me.)
Dinner, which I pretty much ruined my appetite for, was salad:
Spinach, tofu, carrot, tomato, jalapeno sauerkraut, tahini-miso dressing. Crunch-ay.
Dessert (yes more sweets! Lay off me!) was dried calymira figs and chai tea with a good book:
It's still snowing.

aw figs are good for you!
ReplyDeletei want to know more about jalapeno sauerkraut and your curried sunflower seed spread.
xo
kittee
The jalapeno sauerkraut is locally made...Hawthorne Valley Farm. It's really spicy and great. The curried sunflower spread is a Gena recipe from Choosing Raw!
DeleteJalapeño sauerkraut sounds like a dream come true! Who makes it? That specific kind of chocolate is my favorite too. The combination of salty & sweet with added crunch make it soooo gooood.
ReplyDeleteHawthorne Valley..they're from upstate NY but maybe they sell online?
DeleteAnd YES to the chocolate.
Wait, what, sauerkraut dressing? Recipe needed stat! (Enjoy that crazy snow!)
ReplyDeleteThe two were separate...but that sounds really good. Someone must have made that by now, right?
DeleteWith the weather and PMS, I get horrible bread cravings. I'm lucky that I haven't gained weight this winter.... The bagel looks really good, though. It's something I'd have a hard time passing up!
ReplyDeleteI just purchased one of those same chocolate bars a few hours ago when we were at the co-op. They're so good (PMS here, too)! :)
I hope you haven't gotten an obscene amount of snow by now. While it's pretty, it scares me to go outside in the slippery stuff. Stay warm & safe!
The snow wasn't too bad. I wish I were holed up at home with nonstop bagels.
DeleteI think you should eat bagels forever, as many as you want, and have some for me too, because I miss them more than anything!! (I think I'll whine about this every time you post a bagel pic)
ReplyDeleteI was watching your snow on the news. Looks a little crazy! Stay warm :)
You're in the medical field so if you allow it, I'll allow it! All Bagels All the Time.
DeleteI will never ever blame you for eating a bagel. No need to make excuses for it, they are a magical food with seriously healing powers. Definitely my favorite food ever (only if purchased from a real bagel store in NY that is). Cinnamon raisin, a break from the usual pumpernickel :) Looks great! I think you did a great job balancing out the sweets with delicious fresh veggies. The salads look great. And for the record figs, dark chocolate and almonds are all good for you ;)
ReplyDeletePretty snow pic! Hope you guys didn't get too much!
Haha! If only they had magical healing powers... I would set an altar up to them.
DeleteCinnamon Raisin might be my second favorite bagel flavor. Or maybe sesame. Or everything. Aw, hell. They're all good.
OMG! I have been having crazy munchies too. Totally PMS.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it's not just me. :)
DeleteThat cinnamon raisin bagel looks so good although everything does to be fair! I really want to try that curried sunflower spread too, it looks creamy and satisfying. Hope you enjoy the snow! We're due some this afternoon, I'm so over snow....bring on the sunshine!
ReplyDeleteThe curried sunflower spread, if you make it, will certainly bring some sunshine.

ReplyDeleteOooh. Bagels. Love bagels! Too much! I'm better about not overdulging. Hopefully one day I'll be like you, and have them on rare occasion!
ReplyDeleteI love the Almond & Sea Salt Dark Chocolate bar! Good choice.
Your super healthy salad negates all sugar and carb meals, didn't you know that? ;)
Stay warm!
I think that was my first chocolate/sea salt experience. I shall be returning to this treat.
DeleteOh hey, I heard about that storminess. And here I was being all miss glumpants because I woke up to rain. And I like that flavor of Larabar, ha ha ha! And in your defense, I would probably sooth my soul with a bagel if I lived in the land of bagels. Hope you had a good weekend despite the weather!
ReplyDeleteIt rained today and that was way worse than the snow. So in Austin, are you soothing yr soul with tacos, or what??
DeleteI am so jealous that you can get Bagels with Tofutti Cream Cheese up there.
ReplyDeleteAlas, it sounds like you have the same vending machine options that we have. I did the Twizzlers impulse thing about six months ago and felt so gross afterwards. Worst ever.
I'll keep an eye out for the Chocolate Bar.
You should start griping about bagel shops that DON'T have tofu c.c. down there. Unless the bagels aren't worth it. Then you should probably just make yr own. Or have the vending machine guy stock yr workplace with bagels.
DeleteNever in a million years would someone have been able to convince me that you would eat Twizzlers. I love the small vice. Wonderful food day, even the dessert was healthy. :-)
ReplyDeleteHaha, could be worse vices I guess. Like eating Twizzlers AND chocolate in one day. Oh, wait...
DeleteAs I understand it, every salad you eat cancels out one sweet item. More kale = more chocolate. Pretty sure that's rock solid science.
ReplyDeleteALright, a scientist AND a health practitioner giving me the go ahead to eat carbs and sweets! All is well.
DeleteWe all have those days. Every moment is an opportunity to get back on track. No major damage done! That book looks rad. Stay safe in the tundra!
ReplyDeleteThe book IS rad! I gotta finish it soon and return it to work though...
